Ceredigion’s Welsh Liberal Democrat MP Mark Williams has become patron of the charity Aberystwyth Veterans Support Group, who offer advice, information and guidance to former servicemen and women who are experiencing difficulties in adjusting to a new life as a civilian.
This group has been set up and is run by veterans who all live in the Aberystwyth area. They work with servicemen and can offer information and advice on a wide range of subjects including, benefits, debt and money advice, housing, work related problems, and alternative therapies, as well assisting those veterans who are suffering from mental health issues.
Commenting Mark Williams said;
‘I am very proud to become a patron of this Group. It can be particularly helpful for those veterans who need support, where existing services are difficult to access or are not appropriate. The needs of veterans are complex, and as this group is run by Veterans, the understanding to the situation they can bring makes them very well placed to assist our Veteran community in Ceredigion.’
Sean Langton, co-founder of the Aberystwyth Veterans Support Group, said;
‘We are delighted Mark Williams has agreed to be Patron of the charity. Mark has always been a fantastic advocate for veterans and the issues important to them, and his continued support is very valuable.’
Aberystwyth Veterans Support Group currently meet at 25 North Parade, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion SY23 2JN on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month between 18:00 - 20:00 hours. For more information please visit: http://www.aberystwythveteransgroup.org/
