Mark Williams, Member of Parliament for Ceredigion, has welcomed the announcement that Hanes Llanfair has been granted £9,000 of Heritage Lottery funding to enable research into the impact of the First World War on the local community.
Llanfair Clydogau is virtually unique in Ceredigion in having no public physical memorial about the First World War for those who served and those who were killed during the conflict, with no written account of those directly engaged in the war or its impact on the social and economic fabric of the village. The funding will enable research to be undertaken to rectify this lack of information.
Mark said “I greatly welcome the funding that has been granted by the Heritage Lottery Fund to enable research into those who served, those who were killed, and the impact on the local community of the First World War.
“This funding will help to rectify the unfortunate lack of information available on this devastating moment in our history. This is a very important project for the community of Llanfair Clydogau and this funding will help them to finally set things right.”
