Save our schools

Welsh Lib Dem Assembly Candidate Elizabeth Evans is launching a campaign to save four village schools in Dyffryn Aeron after Plaid Cymru-led Ceredigion Council revealed that their future is under threat.

Plans to be discussed by councillors next week include options of closing Ysgol Ciliau Parc, Ysgol Cilcennin, Ysgol Dihewyd and Ysgol Felinfach with children moving to the Theatr Felinfach site or building a new area school (which there are not currently funds to do).

Elizabeth said: “Plaid Cymru stood in the 2012 council elections on a manifesto pledge to keep village schools open. They have now broken that promise repeatedly. I have always opposed the closure of village schools because they are the heart of rural communities.”
