Williams pleased by extension of funding for environmental groups in Wales

Ceredigion’s Welsh Liberal Democrat MP Mark Williams has welcomed confirmation from the Welsh Government’s Natural Resources Minister, that the Welsh Government has reversed its decision to withdraw funding to various environmental groups across Wales.  The funding, which was awarded via a management grant from Environment Wales has now been extended by a further 18 months, until March 2017.

The Minister has written to Mark Williams MP to confirm this decision, following Mark expressing his concerns a few weeks ago when the announcement was made that the funds were to be withdrawn.

Affected projects in Ceredigion are the Long Wood Education and Conservation Project, the Wise Woods Volunteer Programme, and the RAY Ceredigion Recycling and Scrap store.

Commenting Mark Williams said:

“I am very glad to receive confirmation from the Minister that the Welsh Government has reconsidered and reversed this decision.  These excellent community schemes, such as Long Wood Education and Conservation Project, the Wise Woods Volunteer Programme, and the RAY Ceredigion Recycling and Scrap store, can continue to do the important work they undertake in Ceredigion.”
