Mark Williams, who attended the opening, tabled the motion to highlight the success of the official opening event following the 14 year restoration campaign by the local community.  The motion also notes the sites historical importance, and congratulates the Cadwgan Building Preservation Trust for securing £12 million for the project, as well as the people of Cardigan for raising £250,000.

Commenting, Mark Williams said:

“The opening of Cardigan Castle will give the town, and indeed the whole of West Wales a real boost, and I am delighted to be able to commemorate this significant event in Parliament.  I hope more visitors will come and pay a visit, and see what the whole area has to offer.

“The opening event really was a fantastic celebration, and I look forward to the Castle holding many more events like it in future.”
