Welsh Liberal Democrat leader Kirsty Williams has added her support to the the Penparcau Community Forum’s bid for new funding.
Kirsty joined Ceredigion's Welsh Lib Dem candidate Mark Williams to meet representatives from the Forum to discuss the work they do in the local community, and how they are funding.
Kirsty Williams AM, Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, said:
“It was brilliant to meet the team at Penparcau Community Forum, and seeing how energetically they’re working for the people in their community. Losing Communities First funding hasn’t halted them in the slightest, and I’m fully behind their funding bid for a new local community centre.
“I have asked our regional Lib Dem AM William Powell to write a letter of support for their bid, as Mark has already done.”
Mark Williams, Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate for Ceredigion, added:
“This is community empowerment at its best. Since losing its Communities First status local people of Penparcau have really picked up the mantle. I sincerely hope the funding applications are successful and the Forum can continue to do their fantastic community work.”
During her visit to Aberystwyth, Kirsty also spoke of her hopes for Ceredigion in the election. She added:
“All my experiences of talking to people in Ceredigion have shown quite clearly that people up and down this county respect Mark Williams. He’s worked tirelessly as their MP for the past 10 years, and really is a true community champion.
“Everyone in Ceredigion has been helped by Mark or knows someone who has, and this is a testament to his dedication to the people of Ceredigion. I am wholly confident that they will return him as their MP for the third time next month."
