Mark praises work of Change Step to turn around veterans lives

Mark Williams, Member of Parliament for Ceredigion, has praised the work of Change Step, who provide a peer mentoring and advice service for veterans in Wales with post-traumatic stress disorder and a range of psychosocial problems who want to make positive changes to their lives.

Change Step are a Welsh charity which is run by veterans for veterans and aims to support them in seeking help for problems encountered as a result of military or operational duty, offering peer support, training opportunities and signposting to relevant health and welfare services.

Mark met with veterans near Talsarn, who have spent 8 weeks clearing a pond and the surrounding area to provide a wheelchair accessible area which can be used by veterans as a quiet and reflective space.

Mark said: “It was wonderful to meet with these veterans and to see the hard work and dedication they have put in to provide a beautiful space for veterans to relax and enjoy. It has brought them together, given them transferable skills and has shown the huge amount that they have to offer to their community and each other.”

If you are a veteran looking for peer mentoring or advice, you can contact Change Step by calling 0300 777 2259 or emailing [email protected].
