Mark Welcomes Innovative Project by Local Charities to Help Children with Reading

Mark Williams, Member of Parliament for Ceredigion, has commended Cardigan-based charity JigSo for their collaborative work with the charity Burns in the Community and their 'Reading with Dogs' scheme after meeting representatives of the charities at the Cardigan Agricultural Show.

Mark said "as a former primary school teacher myself, the importance of reading, especially amongst young children, as well as fostering a love of books, cannot be understated. This is well understood by Burns and JigSo. The imaginative 'Reading with Dogs' scheme is another really useful tool to encourage reading and communicating generally. To some children reading does not come as easily, and these schemes can be a real help.

"Once again, JigSo are to be commended for adopting this innovative strategy and encouraging children to read with confidence and passion. The importance of the work they do cannot be emphasised enough."
