Mark Williams, Member of Parliament for Ceredigion, has welcomed the announcement made yesterday, Monday 13th June, that Aberystwyth University are developing a veterinary medicine programme in a joint venture with the Royal Veterinary College.
The programme will be tailored to the needs of animal health and welfare in Wales, focusing on farming and livestock science. Currently, Wales does not have any veterinary education provision.
Mark said “I welcome the announcement that Aberystwyth University and the Royal Veterinary College are joining forces to develop a joint veterinary medicine programme.
“For too long, Wales has been without any veterinary education provision, meaning many of our brightest young people who wish to study veterinary medicine have been forced to travel over the border to do so.
“This is a hugely positive move for Aberystwyth University and for Wales, providing a hub of veterinary knowledge and expertise that is so vitally important to rural areas like ours.”
