Ceredigion’s Welsh Liberal Democrat MP Mark Williams, has expressed his disappointment that NatWest branches in Aberaeron and Tregaron will be closing in November.
NatWest have announced today that their Aberaeron branch will close on the 4 November 2015, and their Tregaron branch on 24 November 2015. Local staff at the branches have been informed.
NatWest state that they are introducing a Mobile Branch service to both these communities, and will be engaging with customers and the local community to decide the best day and time for the mobile branch to visit.
Commenting on the announcement, Mark Williams said:
“I am concerned to hear that these NatWest branches are closing. The justification given by banks that the nature of banking is changing and that people can do more online or over the phone is simply not applicable to many people in Ceredigion, with little or no internet service and poor phone reception. There are also many elderly people who require a face to face service with their bank.
“I will be meeting with NatWest to discuss the issues, and hope the mobile service they propose does fulfil many of the banking needs of the local communities in question.’
