Tim Farron, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, and Elizabeth Evans, Assembly Candidate for Ceredigion, met with campaigners from Traws Link Cymru this week to support the campaign to reinstate rail links in west Wales.
The campaign has called for rail links between Carmarthen and Aberystwyth to be reinstated as part of a wider call to create a rail corridor along the west coast of Wales.
Elizabeth Evans and Mark Williams MP have long endorsed the Traws Link Cymru campaign to reopen the Aberystwyth to Carmarthen line and the Welsh Liberal Democrats are committed to a full feasibility study.
Elizabeth said “I have long supported the calls for reopening the Aberystwyth to Carmarthen line. It will help improve local transport links with the rest of Wales, bring more people and money to Ceredigion, and encourage far more people to use the train.
“It is vital that we push the campaign forward, and Traws Link Cymru are doing a fantastic job in making this happen. While there is some way still to go to ensure that it receives the support it needs from Government, we are certainly on the right track.”
