How it works

There is a new voting system for the Senedd elections. The regional lists have been abolished and Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire have been combined into a single constituency, Ceredigion Penfro, that will elect six Senedd members according to each party's share of the vote. A party with 40% of the vote will get twice as many Senedd seats as a party with 20%.

The Liberal Democrats are in a close race for the sixth Senedd seat in Ceredigion Penfro. Voting Lib Dem here can stop Reform UK winning a second seat.

A vote that counts

A vote for the Lib Dems will give Ceredigion Penfro a strong independent voice in the Senedd whoever is in government, ready to stand up for local health services, businesses, farmers and communities. Sandra and the Liberal Democrats will check
Plaid Cymru's plans to waste time and money on promoting independence - something that the pro-independence Greens won't do

Our candidates

Sandra Jervis is our top candidate in Ceredigion Penfro. She lives near Lampeter with her husband and three children. Sandra owns a popular stationery shop in Lampeter and as a former chair of the town's Chamber of Trade has worked to support local small businesses. Sandra was active in campaigning against Ceredigion Council's plans to relocate Lampeter library.

Alistair Cameron is our second place candidate. Alistair is Pembrokeshire County Councillor for Kilgetty and Begelly. He has worked in Human Resources and as a teacher at a further education college and currently serves as a school governor at a primary and a secondary school in Pembrokeshire.

Our other candidates are Tom Hughes, a Town Councillor in Fishguard and Goodwick and an army reservist, Lee Herring, a Pembroke Town Councillor, Andrew Lye from Neyland, and Maggie Robinson.

Our Priorities for Ceredigion Penfro

Fighting to Fix Our NHS

We will improve access to GPs and NHS dentists and invest in social care to ease pressure on health services.
We will fight to protect services at Bronglais and Withybush hospitals and invest in essential repairs and upgrades. We will end corridor care by investing in up to 5,000 new or refurbished nursing-care placements across Wales. We will boost cancer survival rates and introduce a guarantee for 100% of patients to start treatment for cancer within 62 days from urgent referral as part of a National Cancer Plan for Wales, and invest in world class mental health services.

Demanding action on cost of living

We are calling for rural fuel duty relief to be extended to Wales to help compensate for soaring fuel and food prices. We will introduce 30 hours of free childcare from 9 months to 4 years to help young families.

Working to save our small towns and high streets

As a small business owner with a shop on Lampeter High Street, Sandra Jervis understands the pressures that businesses are under. We will reform unfair business rates that are crippling our small towns. We will invest £400m in making high streets
cleaner and greener. We recognise the importance of the tourism industry in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. We will resist nationalist measures to restrict tourism and pause any tourism levy until the sector is ready.

Standing up for our farmers

We fought against unfair inheritance tax changes and will continue to stand up for our farmers in Ceredigion and Pembrokshire. We will invest an extra £50 million a year to support profitable, sustainable and nature-friendly farming in Wales. We will champion the formation of young farmers' cooperatives to give the next generation collective bargaining power, shared resources, and better access to markets. We want a science-based approach to bTB, and action to promote local food as part of a National Food Strategy.

Acting to protect our environment

We will take tough action to hold Welsh Water to account for pollution in our rivers and sea with a new Welsh water
regulator. We will accelerate floating offshore wind energy development off Pembrokshire thereby attracting turbine and foundation manufacturing to Welsh ports. Sandra Jervis has called for the Teifi Valley Pylon Line to be postponed following the cancellation of proposals for the Nant Ceiment windfarm, allowing time to develop cheaper technology to bury the cables underground.
